Press release: Ittervoort, 9 December 2013

Letter of intent

On Monday 9 December, BRB and the municipality of Leudal signed a letter of intent to enable BRB to realize its plans for a 4.5-hectare expansion at the Ittervoort industrial estate.

A few months ago, BRB-International, a producer and supplier of silicones and oil additives based in Ittervoort, announced that it was looking for a location to expand its operations. The expansion was needed due to the continuing growth of the company.

Tailored spatial planning

The municipality of Leudal recently kicked off the so-called 4th development phase of the Ittervoort industrial estate. This phase aims to realize an expansion of the industrial estate, at a prime location alongside the A2 motorway, by nine hectares. The decision by BRB-International to expand its activities here means that half of the total planned expansion has already been accounted for.

As a result of the letter of intent signed with BRB-International, the expansion of the Ittervoort industrial estate can now be tailored to the requirements of the purchasing party. Accordingly, the existing plans and layout for the nine-hectare expansion will be shelved in order to be able to take BRB’s needs into account as much possible. In doing so, the municipality of Leudal is putting into practice the modern concept of tailored spatial planning.

The municipality of Leudal intends to apply the same method to the remaining 4.5 hectares. In this regard, the municipality is working closely together with the Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij Midden-Limburg (OML, Development Company for Central Limburg).

CEO R. Pinckaers of BRB: ‘We’re delighted that we can realize our planned expansion so close to the parent company in Ittervoort, as it will allow us to manage our business activities in our target countries even more effectively from one location.’

Leudal municipal alderman Paul Vogels: ‘For years now, the municipality of Leudal has been proud of BRB-International, and we are happy that we can facilitate BRB’s growth, particularly in this phase of their development. Of course, it also means that the risks involved in an expansion of the industrial estate can be spread more effectively.’
